Edinburgh is a city of true beauty, both natural and man-made. The cobbled, criss-crossing and multi-levelled streets and stunning buildings imbibed in years of history sit among a collection of gorgeous parks, with the breathtaking mound of Arthur's Seat ever visible in the background. What better place for a spot of romance?
Here are a few seats you may want to visit, other than Arthur's, if you're thinking of arranging a romantic date in the Scottish capital...
A botanic bench...
Located in the north of the city just off Inverleith Row, Edinburgh's Royal Botanic Garden is a fantastic place for a date. The garden dates back to the 17 th century and boasts 70 acres of painstakingly landscaped, boldly coloured plant life. You'll find a Rock Garden, a Scottish Heath Garden and even the Queen Mother's Memorial Garden here. Whether a fascinated botanist or not, the scenery is magnificent and inherently romantic. Find a spot on a well-situated bench and enjoy your surroundings.
A perch by the castle...
Whether they met through friends or through dating sites , most couples from Edinburgh would rule out the tourist trap of Edinburgh Castle as a possible dating location. On the other hand, there's something so poetic and mysterious about a castle that would make a visit here a truly memorable date. You might even discover a bit more about the city's history. And afterwards, you can take a perch by the castle and take in the view of the city stretched out beneath you.
A chair lift...
Although Edinburgh may be cold, it's not quite cold enough - or mountainous enough for that matter - for snow-sports enthusiasts. So, where would you find a chairlift? Midlothian Snowsports Centre is an outdoor dry ski slope located to the south of the city, just beyond the outer bypass. Although a bit farther from the centre, this adventure-packed romantic day out will be well worth the journey. Plus, it's something a bit different...
The best seats in the house...
Mainly because of its hugely popular annual Fringe Festival , Edinburgh is renowned for its entertainment. Although you may automatically think of comedy when you think of Fringe, a comedy gig is not a good place to take a date - you run the risk of getting spectacularly picked on by the comedian. But high-quality theatre is also popular and easy to find in the city, and this makes a great date. Thanks to the festival, there are dozens of venues and dozens of shows to choose from all year round.
A cosy cafe armchair...
There's nothing better than getting away from the sudden and erratic rain showers that drench the capital about three times a day by ducking into a cosy little cafe. A long walk along the royal mile ending in such a cafe could make the perfect date. There are many suitable establishments in the city, but a particular favourite is The Elephant House on George IV Bridge. J K Rowling is said to have written most of the Harry Potter books here - surely that on its own is enough to make you want to go!
When you're in Edinburgh dating , the romantic possibilities are never ending. Staggering natural beauty, a fascinating history, lively entertainment and a range of activities mean you'll never run out of ideas for romantic seats.
